latest Double Oak Mountain Life Magazine article

Every couple of months or so I’ve been contributing to a new community/area magazine called Double Oak Mountain Life, which serves the general Dunnavant Valley area.  Below is the text I submitted for the June article, though after final editing it appears a little different in the magazine.  Photos are also included in the mag.

By the time you are reading this, Spring racing season is already quickly coming to an end.  But Summer and Fall in the Birmingham area still provide lots of opportunities to get out and compete, whether it is cycling, running, or multi-sport.  Below is an abbreviated list of upcoming area races, along with some website links for more information.

Many of the metro area races are part of a larger race series, such as the XTERRA Trail Run series, Alabama Backroads Century Series, Alabama Mountain Bike Series, or Alabama Trail Running Series.  As part of a series, points are awarded based on results at each event and the more points you have at the end of series the higher your final placing.

As always, be sure to check in with your local bike shop or run shop, along with your local clubs, for more information on events as well as group training opportunites.

If something shorter is what you are after, 5K races and Fun Runs can be found across the metro area on almost any given weekend.
